Description

Brown seaweeds have been part of European spa culture for more than a century. Thalasso centers along the Atlantic coast built whole programs around algae wraps, sea water baths and marine creams. IO Body Care Slimming-Look Active Liquid is a liquid algae active that continues this tradition in body care products.

About Fucus

Fucus is a genus of brown seaweed that grows on rocky shores in cold and temperate seas. Bladderwrack is the best-known species. In cosmetics, Fucus extracts appear in body care, especially in wraps and contouring products. The exact INCI and algal source of this ingredient are confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot.

Specifications from the card

Liquid, water-soluble. Applications: body-contouring creams, body firming products, body-smoothing scrubs and gommage, dry skin care, care for dull, demineralized-looking skin.

Product formats

Contouring cream

A cream for massage on thighs, abdomen and arms, positioned for smoother-looking, firmer-looking skin.

Firming body lotion

A lighter lotion for daily use over the whole body.

Scrub and gommage

Exfoliating products that leave skin smooth and ready for a contouring cream.

Algae wrap

A spa wrap mass with clay or gel base and the active.

Formulating guidance

Add the active during cool-down into the water phase and check the finished pH. Algae ingredients can have a marine odor and a light color; test fragrance coverage. Combine with caffeine for an energizing concept and with Fucus-gel for a richer marine identity. More body actives are listed under actives.

Responsible claims

Body care claims are scrutinized in many markets. Use visual and tactile wording: smoother-looking, firmer-looking, softer skin; a more radiant look for dull skin. Avoid weight loss or shape-change promises, even though the suggests a contouring theme.

Spa and thalasso

Spas can use the active in professional wraps, followed by a home-care cream. A protocol sheet and a professional size support this channel.

Who buys body care

Customers preparing for summer, spa visitors and anyone who enjoys a body care ritual.

Testing

Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C. Check odor, color and viscosity.

Range planning

A marine body line with a scrub, a contouring cream and a body lotion is easy to communicate. A wrap can be added for spas.

Massage and routine

Body care works best as a ritual. Recommend a scrub twice a week, followed by a contouring cream applied with firm upward massage on the thighs, hips and abdomen. Massage itself improves how the skin looks and feels right after use, and a consistent routine is what customers remember. Instructions on the pack, with a short diagram of massage directions, make the product more useful and reduce disappointment.

Seasonal marketing

Body products sell most in late spring, before beach season. Plan launches and promotions for that window, and offer a travel size for summer holidays.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.
