3M3 Whiteris, a red algae tone active

3M3 Whiteris is a marine brightening active made in France from red algae of the Rhodophyceae group. The algae are hydrolyzed and the extract is carried in glycerin and water, giving the INCI Glycerin, Water, Hydrolyzed Rhodophyceae Extract. The liquid is yellow, readily soluble in water and has a pH of 6.0 to 8.0. The dose is a single, simple number: 3% of the finished product, added below 40 °C. The smallest pack is 0.33 oz (10 mL).

What it does

The supplier positions 3M3 Whiteris as a tone-evening active. The complexion looks brighter and more uniform, and dark spots look smaller and lighter. On a US label the right words are brighter, more radiant and more even looking skin with less visible dark spots; brightening and tone evening are the terms consumers expect.

Why red algae

Red algae grow deeper in the sea than green or brown algae and have adapted to low light and mineral-rich water. They are a rich source of polysaccharides, minerals and pigment proteins. A hydrolyzed extract is broken into smaller parts, which makes it fully water-soluble and easy to handle. The sea origin also gives clean and marine lines a strong story without the harsh feel of strong acids.

Adding it and pairing it
