Description
This ingredient at a glance
IO Water-Phase Active Concentrate is a liquid active concentrate sold by the milliliter. Our product record confirms that it is water-soluble and added directly to the water phase during cool-down. The intended cosmetic purpose, the full INCI and the active content are documented by the supplier and printed on the CoA for each lot. Because we cannot verify those details for every lot, this page does not repeat them; instead it covers the practical side of working with a water-soluble liquid concentrate and points you to the documents that matter.
Start with the documents
Before you plan a product with any concentrate, read three documents: the CoA for the lot, the technical data sheet and the safety data sheet. Together they tell you the INCI for your label, the recommended level, the pH and temperature limits and any handling precautions. Keep copies in your product file, since retailers and regulators may ask for them.
Applications
Water-soluble liquid concentrates belong in leave-on serums, gels, light creams, essences and masks. These formats keep the active in contact with skin and make use of its water solubility. Choose the product type and claims based on the supplier documentation. A common approach is to combine a concentrate with humectants such as Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate and a supporting active such as Niacinamide. See more in our peptides catalog.
How to use it
Prepare the base and cool it below 40 °C. Weigh this ingredient into the batch and mix gently until uniform. Do not reheat. Keep the pH within the range given in the supplier documentation. Follow the CoA for the use level.
Writing claims correctly
Claims should follow the supplier documentation and your own testing. In the US, cosmetics may describe the look and feel of skin and hair, but not effects on body structure or function. Use wording such as looks smoother, feels softer or appears more even, and avoid words that suggest a remedy. When in doubt, keep claims simple and descriptive.
Preservation and hygiene
Liquid concentrates add water to your formula, and some carry their own preservative. Account for both in your preservation strategy and confirm the final system with a challenge test. Weigh with clean tools, close the bottle immediately and store it cool to protect the material between batches.
Pilot testing
Make a small pilot batch, divide it into three samples and store them at room temperature, warm and cold for at least four weeks. Check appearance, odor, pH and viscosity weekly. Any change tells you to adjust the base before scaling up.
Compatibility
Water-soluble liquid concentrates are generally compatible with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, niacinamide, plant extracts and peptides. Avoid strong oxidizers and long heating. Add actives one at a time.
Characteristics
Form: liquid active concentrate. Solubility: water. Addition: water phase at cool-down. Purpose, INCI and active content: in the supplier documentation and on the CoA. Supply: milliliter packs.
Original recipe: light daily gel, 100 g
Phase A: distilled water 86.80 g, glycerin 4.00 g, niacinamide 2.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g. Phase B: hydroxyethylcellulose 0.70 g predispersed in propanediol 2.00 g; stir into An until clear. Phase C below 40 °C: IO Water-Phase Active Concentrate at the level on the CoA, here 2.00 g; Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate 0.10 g predissolved; preservative 1.00 g; water 0.40 g. Mix gently and adjust pH to about 5.5.
Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.
Storage
Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool place away from light. Reseal after use. Ships from Florida in milliliter packs.
