VIB snake ACTIV is an expression line complex from Spain. It is a brown liquid that gives a clear, yellow brown solution when diluted. Its INCI is long: Sodium PCA, Glycine Soja Germ Extract, Hydrolyzed Serum Protein, Aminobutyric Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate and the sulfates of calcium, magnesium, copper, potassium, zinc, manganese and iron. It is used at 2 to 10% of the finished product, with appearance-focused cosmetic results shown at 5%, and has a pH of 5.0 to 7.0.

A snake style active without snakes

The name points to the famous snake venom style actives of skin care, which promise a relaxing, smoothing effect on expression lines. VIB snake ACTIV takes this idea and builds it from a protein hydrolysate, a plant extract, an amino acid, vitamins and minerals. It contains no snake ingredients.

What is inside

Serum protein and soy germ

Hydrolyzed serum protein supplies peptides and amino acids that smooth and condition the skin surface. Soy germ extract adds plant proteins and isoflavones.

GABA and sodium PCA

Aminobutyric acid, known as GABA, is the amino acid behind many relaxing skin care stories. Sodium PCA is part of the skin's natural moisturizing factor and keeps the formula hydrating.

Vitamins and minerals

Vitamin A palmitate, vitamin C palmitate and vitamin E acetate add antioxidant care. Seven mineral salts supply calcium, magnesium, copper, potassium, zinc, manganese and iron, trace elements that skin cells use in their daily work.

What it does

The complex relaxes the look of lines and starts to smooth wrinkles right after application, especially on the forehead and in the smile lines from nose to mouth. Users feel a tightening, lifting and smoothing sensation on the skin. With regular use, the skin looks smoother, more toned and younger.

How to formulate

Add VIB snake ACTIV to the water phase at cool-down. It dissolves in water and in glycerin, propylene glycol, pentylene glycol, propanediol and ethoxydiglycol. Keep the finished product between pH 5.0 and 7.0. The brown color gives a light tint at higher doses. Combine it with acetyl hexapeptide-8 for a stronger expression line story and with hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate for hydration. More protein actives are in the hydrolysates section.

Dosing

Daily creams use 2 to 3%. Anti-wrinkle serums use 5%, the level at which results were shown. Intensive line correctors and ampoules can use up to 10%.

Sample recipe: instant smoothing serum, 100 g

Distilled water 82.70 g, VIB snake ACTIV 5.00 g, glycerin 3.00 g, propanediol 3.00 g, acetyl hexapeptide-8 solution 3.00 g, hydroxyethylcellulose 0.80 g, sodium hyaluronate 0.20 g, preservative 1.00 g, citric acid solution 1.30 g. Disperse the cellulose and hyaluronate in the water, add glycerin and propanediol, cool below 40 °C, add VIB snake ACTIV, the peptide and the preservative, and adjust to about pH 6.

The tightening feel

The supplier describes a noticeable feeling that the skin is being pulled, tightened and smoothed. At 5% this feeling lasts for several hours, and at higher doses it lasts longer. Mention it in the usage text, because users enjoy feeling the effect.

Storage

Store in a cool, dark place in a tightly closed container. A certificate of analysis comes with every lot.
