Description

A water-loving active for water-free lip products

Tripeptide-1 + Sodium Hyaluronate Lip Active functional ingredient WS solves a specific problem: getting sodium hyaluronate into a lip balm or gloss, which contains no water. It pairs Tripeptide-1, the Gly-His-Lys sequence, with sodium hyaluronate carried as fine particles in a base of isohexadecane, cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone, gelled with a styrene/ethylene/propylene copolymer and xanthan gum. It is a white to off-white viscous fluid, an anhydrous suspension. Confirm appearance on the CoA.

INCI and CAS

The INCI is Tripeptide-1, Sodium Hyaluronate, Isohexadecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Styrene/Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer, Xanthan Gum. CAS is Mixture: Tripeptide-1 72957-37-0, sodium hyaluronate 9067-32-7, isohexadecane 4390-04-9, cyclopentasiloxane 541-02-6, dimethicone 63148-62-9, xanthan gum 11138-66-2, and N/A for the copolymer.

Working with it

Phase and temperature

It blends into oils, esters and silicones and does not dissolve in water. Add it to the oil and silicone phase at the end of the process. Supplier technical data, as published by its distributors, say not to exceed 60 °C. In poured balms, add it as the batch cools so it stays within that limit.

Level

The level the supplier publishes is 2 percent.

Product types that suit it

Lip balms, glosses, lip oils, lip masks and plumping-look lip products, plus anhydrous face serums. The supplier recommends water-free products for its effect, so emulsions and water gels are not the intended home.

Pairing ideas

Squalane, plant butters, waxes and Hemisqualane suit a lip base. Other actives are in our peptide solutions. Add each active separately and check clarity, odor and viscosity after each addition instead of premixing several actives in one beaker.

Example architecture

A lip oil of squalane, an ester, a light silicone and Tripeptide-1 + Sodium Hyaluronate Lip Active at the published level, plus an antioxidant. A balm adds waxes and butters, melted first, with Tripeptide-1 + Sodium Hyaluronate Lip Active stirred in as the batch cools.

Claims

The supplier positions it for lip volume and lip hydration: a fuller-looking, smoother lip with a defined contour. Keep claims to how the lips look and feel. Keep claims cosmetic and tied to appearance. Any before-and-after statement needs a test on the finished product, not on the raw material.

Testing the finished product

Run a stability check on the finished product at room temperature, at 40 °C and in a fridge for several weeks, and watch color, odor, clarity, viscosity and pH. Check the product in its final pack too, since pumps, droppers and jars expose it to air differently. A preservative challenge test on the final product is the standard step before launch.

Lot handling and storage

Record appearance and pH on arrival, compare them with the CoA, and keep the CoA with your batch records so each finished batch can be traced to its lot. Store tightly closed, cool and away from light, and respect the shelf life on the CoA.

Labeling and documents

Write the INCI exactly as the CoA for your lot gives it, in the order the supplier lists it, and keep the CAS line the same as the CoA, including N/A or Mixture where that is what it says. Keep the CoA with your batch records. If your market needs an SDS or a full ingredient breakdown, ask for it before you scale so the paperwork matches the batch you buy.

Ordering

It is sold as a raw material for cosmetic formulation, not as a finished consumer product. Start with a small pack for bench trials and scale once your stability checks pass. It ships from Florida, usually within 1 to 2 business days, in the pack sizes shown above, and US shipping is free on orders of $50 or more.
