Description

This ingredient in brief

IO Smoothing Peptide Ingredient Powder is an ingredient that supplier material describes as a peptide complex for the visible signs of aging. In our catalog it sits among the peptides, and our product record lists it as a powder sold by the gram. The information that a regulatory file needs, including the full INCI, the peptide content and the recommended use level, is printed on the CoA for each lot. We point you there rather than repeat details we cannot verify across lots, and this text focuses on handling and product design.

Why a peptide complex

Complexes combine several components so that a brand can tell a broad story with one ingredient. For smaller brands this simplifies purchasing and keeps the INCI list manageable. In finished products, peptide complexes are usually positioned around skin that looks smoother, firmer and more rested. Keep your own wording cosmetic and focused on appearance, and match it to the supplier documentation.

Applications

Leave-on formats suit peptide complexes best: serums, light and rich creams, eye creams, neck creams and ampoules. They keep the ingredient on the skin for hours. Many brands combine a complex like this ingredient with a single well-known peptide, for example Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 Powder, and with humectants such as Ultra low molecular sodium hyaluronate. See the full range in our peptides catalog.

How to dissolve and add it

Weigh the powder precisely. Add it to a small amount of distilled water, or to the co-solvent recommended on the CoA, and stir until it is fully dissolved or evenly dispersed. Add the premix to the cooled batch below 40 °C with gentle mixing. Avoid heating the batch afterwards. Use the level given on the CoA.

Testing before scale-up

Make two or three pilot batches at different levels within the CoA range. Store them at room temperature, in a warm cabinet and in the fridge, and check appearance, odor, pH and viscosity weekly for at least four weeks. Pay attention to haze in clear products and to any color change. Document everything; these records are valuable for your product file and for future reformulation. When the pilot batches behave well, scale up in one intermediate step rather than jumping straight to a full production run, because mixing and cooling times change with batch size and can affect how the powder disperses.

Compatibility

Peptide powders generally work with glycerin, propanediol, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, niacinamide, allantoin and plant extracts. Keep the pH in a mild range and avoid strong acids, strong bases, oxidizers and long heating. Copper peptides are better placed in a separate product. Add multiple actives one at a time.
