Description

Resveratrol Powder at a glance

This Resveratrol Powder comes from Italy, with the INCI Resveratrol. It is used at 0.2 to 1% of the finished product. It is only slightly soluble in water, so it is dissolved in ethanol or dispersed in glycerin, butylene glycol, propylene glycol or dimethyl isosorbide first and then added to the cooled product. The supplier describes it as one of the most powerful natural antioxidants.

Resveratrol in nature

Resveratrol is a polyphenol that plants make to protect themselves against stress, fungi and UV light. It became famous through red wine, because grape skins are rich in it,. For industrial use it is usually taken from Japanese knotweed, a plant that contains large amounts. In skin care, resveratrol stands for antioxidant protection and youthful looking skin.

What it does

The supplier lists a strong antioxidant effect and less free radical damage to cells. It helps wrinkles look less visible and the skin look younger, helps tighten and smooth the skin and reduce the look of sagging, supports the skin's own collagen and has brightening properties that help the look of uneven pigmentation. It also has a soothing effect on the skin. The supplier states that it is several times stronger as an antioxidant than beta-carotene and vitamins C and E.

How to formulate

Pre-dissolving

The most important step is solubility. For a clear serum, dissolve the powder in ethanol or dimethyl isosorbide, then add it to the cooled product. For creams, disperse it in glycerin, butylene glycol or propylene glycol with good stirring. Add it below 40 °C.

Light and color

Resveratrol is sensitive to light and can turn slightly yellow over time. Use opaque or airless packaging.

Partners

Resveratrol combines well with other antioxidants. A serum can add ferulic acid, and a day cream can add niacinamide for an even tone. More antioxidant actives are listed in the cosmetic actives section.

Dosing

Daily creams use 0.2 to 0.5%. Intensive appearance-focused cosmetic serums and brightening serums use 0.5 to 1%.

Product ideas

The supplier lists appearance-focused cosmetic products, brightening products, moisturizers, after-sun care and after sun products and soothing products for redness prone skin. Typical concepts are antioxidant serums, night creams, day creams with, eye creams and after sun lotions.

Day and night

Antioxidants work best as a shield during the day, under. A night serum with resveratrol supports the look of leave-on cosmetic use. Many brands offer both, with the same active and different textures.

After-sun care

The supplier lists after-sun care and after sun products. Antioxidants such as resveratrol complement sun filters by helping the skin cope with the free radicals that sunlight creates. In after sun lotions, it adds an antioxidant and soothing message to cooling, moisturizing bases.
