Description

What this ingredient is

IO Radiance Ferment Active Liquid is a liquid active publicly documented as a kombucha-type ferment of black tea, listed in INCI as Saccharomyces/Xylinum/Black Tea Ferment. Kombucha is the traditional drink made by fermenting sweetened tea with a culture of yeast and bacteria, and the cosmetic ferment draws on the same process. This page sells the concentrate in milliliter packs. Our product record lists it as water-soluble and added directly to the water phase during cool-down. The exact INCI and active content are on the CoA for each lot.

Properties

Ferments are popular in skin care because they combine a natural story with modern biotechnology. This ingredient is positioned for skin that looks fresh, smooth and rested, especially for city dwellers whose skin looks dull from pollution, late nights and stress. The kombucha name is well known from the beverage trend, which gives brands an easy entry into conversation with customers.

Applications

Radiance serums, detox-themed day creams, toners, essences, sleeping masks and sheet masks are typical. This ingredient fits well with NAD+ in a longevity-themed line and with Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate in a light essence. More ferment and peptide-category actives are in our peptides catalog.

How to use it

Prepare the base and cool it below 40 °C. Weigh this ingredient into the batch and stir gently. Do not reheat. Keep the pH mildly acidic to neutral, about 4.5 to 6.5. Follow the CoA for the use level.

Preservation with ferments

Ferment-based ingredients can contain sugars and other nutrients, so microbial protection deserves attention. Choose a broad-spectrum preservative that works at your pH, confirm it with a challenge test and keep production hygienic. A slightly acidic pH helps many preservatives work better. Do not rely on the concentrate's own preservation, if any, to protect the finished product.

The city skin concept

Urban skin care is a strong marketing theme: products that help skin look clear and fresh despite pollution, screen time and stress. Combine a ferment like this ingredient with antioxidants such as tocopherol, a humectant and a light texture. Grey, metallic or concrete-themed packaging supports the story. Keep claims about appearance and avoid suggesting that the product removes toxins from the body.

Compatibility

Ferment extracts are generally compatible with glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, niacinamide, plant extracts and peptides. Avoid strong oxidizers and long heating. Check clarity and odor after addition, since ferments can carry a light characteristic scent.

Sensory notes

Ferments can carry a faint sour or tea-like scent. In most products it disappears under a light fragrance, and in fragrance-free products it is usually barely noticeable at typical levels. Smell each new lot and compare it with your reference sample before production. ## Characteristics
