Description
A nine-amino-acid peptide for an even-looking tone
Nonapeptide-1 is a synthetic peptide of nine amino acids used in brightening products. It is a favorite in serums and creams aimed at the look of dark spots and uneven tone, because it gives a peptide-based alternative to the classic acid and vitamin brighteners. This page is the INCI-named solution, CAS 158563-45-2. It is a clear or slightly cloudy liquid; the full vehicle INCI is confirmed on the CoA for each lot.
Choosing the right tone peptide
Dawnergy also lists Nonapeptide-1, but in a different commercial system with its own claims. Melitan is a different peptide, Acetyl Hexapeptide-1, with a tanning-look story. All of them sit among our peptide solutions, so check the SKU and the INCI before ordering.
Formulating with Nonapeptide-1
Phase and temperature
Add it in cool-down, below 40 °C, with gentle mixing, and avoid long holds at high temperature. It goes into the water phase of serums and gels, or into an emulsion after it has cooled.
Level and pH
Take the use level from the supplier documentation for your lot. The supplier specification gives a pH of 4.0 to 6.0 for the material. Record the finished pH after the addition.
Brightening systems
Brightening products often combine several actives. Add each one separately, and check whether acids or vitamin C derivatives move the pH outside the range in the supplier documentation.
Product ideas
Tone-correcting serums, dark-spot-look creams, face and décolleté creams, hand creams for an even-looking tone, after-sun gels and post-exfoliation comfort products.
Pairing ideas
Niacinamide, tranexamic acid, licorice root extract, alpha-arbutin and vitamin C derivatives are common brightening partners. Hyaluronic acid and glycerin keep the texture comfortable. Add each active separately and check clarity after each one.
Example: tone serum architecture
An opaque airless pump protects light-sensitive companions.
Claims
Keep claims cosmetic: skin tone looks more even, dark spots look less visible, and skin looks brighter. Avoid naming skin conditions, and test the finished product before making time-based claims.
Lot handling and storage
Record appearance and pH on arrival, compare them with the CoA, and keep the CoA with your batch records so each finished batch can be traced to its lot. Store tightly closed, cool and away from light.
Stability checks before scale-up
Run a small pilot batch first. Keep samples at room temperature, in a warm cabinet and in the fridge, and check color, odor, clarity, viscosity and pH at set intervals over several weeks. Test the product in the final pack as well as in glass, because pumps, droppers and tubes can change how a peptide product ages. Write every observation into the batch record next to the lot number of the raw material.
Ordering
Nonapeptide-1 is sold from a 0.33 oz (10 mL) sample up to gallon sizes. It ships from Florida, usually within 1 to 2 business days, in the pack sizes shown above, and US shipping is free on orders of $35 or more.
