Description

Moringa Extract Powder at a glance

Moringa Extract Powder is a plant extract powder from France. Its INCI is Moringa Oleifera Leaf Extract, Maltodextrin. It is a light to dark green powder made from the leaves of Moringa oleifera, held on a maltodextrin carrier. It dissolves easily in hot water and in polysorbate 80, and a faint sediment is possible. The supplier also lists it as moringa leaf powder, drumstick tree extract and miracle tree extract.

The miracle tree

Moringa oleifera is a fast growing tree from the foothills of the Himalayas, now grown across Asia, Africa and Latin America. Almost every part of the tree is used, which is why it is often called the miracle tree. Its leaves are especially rich in nutrients, and moringa powder has become a well known superfood. The long pods that give it the name drumstick tree are eaten as a vegetable in India.

What is inside

The supplier describes a concentrated leaf extract that contains polyphenols, amino acids, minerals and natural antioxidants. Polyphenols such as quercetin and chlorogenic acid give antioxidant power.

What it does

In skin care, the extract is used to help protect and restore the skin and to support a fresh, toned look. It adds antioxidant protection and suits care for dull, tired and stressed looking skin. It fits appearance-focused cosmetic and detox formulas, and it can be used in scalp and hair care. It is compatible with water and emulsion systems and suits natural and functional cosmetics.

The supplier's dose table

Serums use 0.1 to 2%. Creams and emulsions use 0.1 to 1%. Masks use 0.5 to 3%. Toners use 0.1 to 1%. Hair care uses 0.1 to 1%.

How to formulate

Dissolve the powder in hot water, part of the formula water at about 60 to 70 °C, then cool and add it to the batch at cool-down. For clear toners, filter to remove any faint sediment, or premix with polysorbate 80. The green color gives a natural tint, which suits a green, superfood story. Keep the finished product at about pH 5 to 6. A detox mask can combine it with niacinamide, and an antioxidant serum can add ferulic acid. More plant powders are listed in the plant extract powders section.

Product ideas

Detox face masks, antioxidant serums, superfood day creams, green toners, cleansing gels, body lotions, scalp toners, hair masks and SPA detox programs are the main concepts.

Sample recipe: green detox gel mask, 100 g

Distilled water 85.70 g, glycerin 5.00 g, Moringa Extract Powder 2.00 g, niacinamide 2.00 g, propanediol 2.00 g, carbomer 0.80 g, sodium hydroxide solution 1.00 g, panthenol 0.50 g, preservative 1.00 g. SPA and wellness

The supplier lists the SPA and wellness industry, detox programs and restorative complexes. A moringa body wrap, a detox mask and a green body lotion can form a short SPA ritual with one clear plant story.

Hair care

At 0.1 to 1% in scalp toners and hair masks, moringa adds an antioxidant, nourishing message to hair care. Its nutrient story fits strengthening ranges.
