Description
Methyl Nicotinate at a glance
Methyl Nicotinate is a powder that dissolves in water. It is the methyl ester of nicotinic acid, one of the forms of vitamin B3. The supplier specification lists body-contouring products, body-smoothing products, products for fuller-looking lips, warming products, shampoos, conditioners and balms. Confirm purity on the supplier CoA.
Using warmth in cosmetics
Warming sensations are popular in massage products, lip plumpers and body care. The warmth signals that something is happening and makes the product experience memorable. In lip products, the slight flush also makes lips look rosier and fuller for a short time. In scalp care, a warming feel gives an energizing story.

Processing
Methyl nicotinate is effective at very low levels, so weigh it on a precise scale and pre-dissolve it in a small amount of water before adding it. Add it at cool-down and stir well so it is evenly distributed, since uneven mixing can cause hot spots. Check the final pH.
Good partners
Caffeine supports body-contouring products. Menthol crystal adds a cool contrast. Hyaluronic filling spheres and gloss bases suit lip plumpers. Browse more in the actives catalog.
Testing
Run a panel test to rate warming intensity, duration and comfort. Always include clear directions and a warning to avoid the eyes and broken skin.

Warnings and directions
Because the warming effect and redness are part of the experience, explain them on the label so users are not surprised. Advise users to wash hands after applying, to keep the product away from the eyes and not to use it on sensitive or damaged skin. Suggest a patch test before the first full use.
Lip plumping tips
In lip glosses, the warming agent goes into a small water or glycol phase or is dispersed in the gloss base with a suitable carrier. Keep the level very low, since lips are sensitive.
Range ideas
A warming body gel, a lip plumper and a massage cream can share methyl nicotinate and a warm, energizing theme.
Lot records
Keep each CoA with the batch file and note the lot used.
Balancing intensity
The warming feeling builds over several minutes and then fades. Very small changes in level can make a big difference to how strong it feels, so make several trial batches with small steps between them. Rate each one for onset, peak intensity and how long the warmth lasts. Choose the level that gives a pleasant warmth for most testers without discomfort.
Massage directions
Tell users how much product to apply and how long to massage. A small amount spread over a large area gives a gentler warmth than a thick layer on a small spot. Clear directions help users get a consistent experience every time.
Pairing with fragrance
Warm spicy notes such as ginger, cinnamon leaf and black pepper match the warming story, while citrus notes keep it fresh. Test the scent in the finished product.
Storage
Store closed in a dry place. Close the container after use.
