Description
Marine Fish Collagen at a glance
Marine Fish Collagen is a powder. Fish collagen comes from fish skin and scales, which are by-products of the fishing industry. It is usually hydrolyzed, which means the long collagen chains are broken into smaller pieces that dissolve well in water. The supplier specification gives only the form, so check the molecular weight, solubility and recommended level on the supplier data sheet and CoA.
Collagen in cosmetics
Collagen is the main structural protein of the skin. Applied in a cream, collagen does not replace the skin's own collagen, but it forms a smooth, moisture-holding film on the surface. That film helps skin feel soft and supple and gives a silky finish. In hair care, collagen coats the strands and helps them feel smoother and fuller.
Product formats
Hydrating serums
Light serums with collagen and hyaluronic acid.

Sheet masks and cream masks are classic collagen formats.
Body lotions
Lotions for soft, supple skin on the body.
Hair care
Conditioners and leave-in products for smoother hair.
Processing
Sprinkle the powder into the water phase while stirring and mix until fully dissolved. Proteins can foam, so stir gently once dissolved. If the formula is heated, add collagen during cool-down. Preserve the product well, since proteins can support microbial growth.
Good partners
Marine collagen hydrolysate offers a liquid alternative, and Desamido Collagen another collagen grade. More collagen and protein ingredients are in the actives catalog.
Testing
Check odor and clarity after storage, since marine proteins can develop a fishy note. Measure skin hydration with a corneometer.
Claims
Skin feels soft, supple and moisturized; hair feels smoother; with marine collagen.
Characteristics
Form: powder. Source: marine fish skin and scales. Molecular weight, solubility and level: supplier data sheet and CoA. Not vegan.
Original recipe: collagen sheet mask essence, 100 g
Distilled water 88.30 g, glycerin 5.00 g, butylene glycol 2.00 g, marine fish collagen 2.00 g, sodium hyaluronate 0.20 g, panthenol 1.00 g, allantoin 0.20 g, xanthan gum 0.10 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, citric acid 0.20 g. Disperse xanthan in glycerin, add to the water, dissolve the collagen and the remaining ingredients, preserve and adjust the pH.
Managing odor
Fish-derived ingredients can carry a faint marine odor. Use a high-quality, deodorized grade, keep the level moderate and add a light fragrance. Check odor after storage at 40 °C, as warmth can bring it out.
Sustainability story
Using fish skin and scales that would otherwise be waste is a good sustainability story. Ask the supplier about the source species and certifications, and mention them on the label if they are confirmed.
Range ideas
A collagen sheet mask, a hydrating serum and a body lotion can share marine collagen and a sea-inspired theme.
Lot records
Keep each CoA with the batch file and note the lot used.
Powder versus liquid collagen
Powdered collagen is easy to ship and store and has a long shelf life when kept dry. Liquid hydrolysates are ready to use but need preservation. Many producers keep a powder for flexibility and dissolve it fresh for each batch. Dissolve it fully before adding thickeners so no gel lumps form, and filter the solution if clarity is important.
Hair care
Collagen in conditioners and leave-in sprays coats the hair and helps it feel smoother and fuller.
Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.
Storage
Store closed in a dry place. Close the container after use.
