How to use it

Add the active to the water phase below 40 °C and stir until uniform. In conditioners and leave-in creams, keep the pH slightly acidic, between 4.5 and 5.5, to keep the cuticle flat. Curl products often avoid sulfates and drying alcohols, so choose a mild system.

Curl defining leave-in cream recipe, 100 g

Distilled water 82.30 g, Long Lasting Curls 4.00 g, cetearyl alcohol 3.50 g, behentrimonium methosulfate 2.00 g, glycerin 3.00 g, shea butter 2.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, hydroxyethylcellulose 0.50 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, lactic acid solution 0.20 g, fragrance 0.50 g. Heat the water with the cellulose and the fatty phase to 75 °C, emulsify, cool to below 40 °C, add the active, panthenol, preservative and fragrance, and adjust the pH to about 5.0.

Curl routines usually follow a fixed order: cleanse, condition, leave-in, then a gel or cream to set the shape. Placing the active in several steps of the routine builds a stronger result. Use wording such as defined, bouncy, frizz-controlled and longer-lasting curls.
