Description

Fision KeraVeg18 in short

Fision KeraVeg18 is a liquid active for hair and skin care. The supplier specification gives a pH range of 4.0 to 7.0 and lists a wide range of uses: skin care at around 2% to visibly hydrate the skin and reduce transepidermal water loss, hair and body oils, shampoos and shower gels, conditioners and hair masks, wet wipes for better sensory properties and decorative cosmetics. The name suggests a vegetable, keratin-friendly concept linked to 18-MEA. Confirm the exact composition and solubility on the certificate of analysis.

What 18-MEA is

The surface of healthy hair is covered with a thin lipid layer. Its main component is 18-methyleicosanoic acid, known as 18-MEA. It keeps the cuticle smooth, water-repellent and easy to comb. Bleaching, coloring and sun exposure remove part of this layer, and hair becomes rough, frizzy and hard to manage. Plant-based lipid conditioners inspired by 18-MEA aim to restore a smooth, soft feel to the hair surface.

Formats

Hair care

Conditioners, hair masks and shampoos use the active for a smoother, softer feel. Hair oils are listed too.

Skin care

The supplier specification gives about 2% in skin care for visible hydration and less water loss.

Personal hygiene

Shower gels and shampoos benefit from a lipid conditioner that reduces the dry feel after washing.

Wet wipes and decorative cosmetics

Wet wipes gain a softer, more pleasant feel, and decorative cosmetics benefit from the skin-conditioning effect.

How to use it

Check the solubility on the technical sheet, then add the active to the appropriate phase. In rinse-off products, add it at the end of mixing. Keep the final pH between 4.0 and 7.0. Use about 2% in skin care as a starting point, as given in the supplier specification.

Partners

Hair ranges combine lipid conditioners with proteins and humectants. Vegetamide 18MEA-NJ is another 18-MEA-inspired conditioner, and hydrolyzed keratin adds a protein story. More hair and skin concentrates are listed in the actives catalog.

Smoothing hair mask recipe, 100 g

Distilled water 80.10 g, cetearyl alcohol 6.00 g, behentrimonium chloride 2.50 g, Fision KeraVeg18 3.00 g, caprylic and capric triglyceride 2.00 g, glycerin 2.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, hydrolyzed keratin 1.00 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, fragrance 0.40 g, lactic acid solution 1.00 g. Melt the fatty alcohol and quat with the triglyceride at 75 °C, add hot water and homogenize, cool below 40 °C, then add KeraVeg18, keratin, panthenol, preservative and fragrance and adjust the pH to about 4.5.

Why a plant-based 18-MEA concept

The natural 18-MEA on hair is hard to replace, and many conditioning agents only imitate its feel. A plant-based lipid conditioner fits vegan hair care and offers a modern alternative to heavy silicones. Consumers notice the softer, smoother feel quickly, especially on colored hair.

Testing

Combing force measurements, contact angle tests for water repellency and a sensory panel on softness support hair claims. For skin, corneometer and TEWL readings document hydration.

Dose guidance

Use about 2% in skin care as stated in the supplier specification. In hair masks and conditioners, follow the technical sheet.

Wet wipes and sensory upgrades

Wet wipes are listed in the supplier specification for a reason. A lipid conditioner makes wipes feel softer and leaves skin less dry after use. Small additions like this can make an everyday product noticeably more pleasant without changing its main function.

Storage

Store tightly closed in a cool place, away from heat and light.
