Description
Silicon is one of the most common elements on Earth and is present in skin, hair and nails in small amounts. Organic silicon actives have built a following in firming skin care and in products for nails and hair. IO Firming Silicon-Type Active Liquid is a water-soluble active whose name points that way, with a narrow pH range of 5 to 6.
Product data
Water-soluble. PH range 5 to 6. The card does not list applications or origin. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.
The narrow pH window
Many silicon-based actives are stable only in a limited pH range. Target the middle of the window, around 5.5, and check pH after stability storage. Avoid combining it with strong acids or alkaline ingredients in the same product.
Product formats
Firming serum
A light serum for daily use.
Firming cream
A day or night cream for mature skin.
Eye serum
A serum for the eye contour.
Nail serum
A brush-on serum for the nails and cuticles.

A leave-on spray for lengths and scalp.
Formulating guidance
Add the active during cool-down into the water phase and adjust the pH to 5 to 6. Pair it with palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 for firmness, low molecular weight hyaluronic acid for hydration and D-Panthenol in nail and hair products. More ingredients are listed under actives.
Claims
Use cosmetic wording such as firmer-looking skin and stronger-looking nails and hair. Support numbers with tests on the finished product.
Who the products are for
Customers with mature skin, people with brittle-feeling nails and those who want stronger-looking hair.
Nail care
Nail serums should be watery enough to brush on and dry quickly. Apply to nails and cuticles daily.
Compatibility
Check compatibility with peptides, salts and thickeners. Silicon actives can gel or haze if pH drifts.
Testing
Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking pH, clarity and viscosity.
Packaging
Droppers for serums, brush bottles for nail serums, sprays for hair tonics.
Batch quality
Keep the CoA for each lot and record the finished pH of each batch.
Range planning
A firming serum, a cream and a nail serum form a strength-themed line.
Labeling
Use the INCI from the CoA on the label.
Preservation
Confirm the preservative system with a challenge test at the final pH.

Hair care detail
In hair tonics, a silicon-type active fits a strength story for the lengths. Keep the tonic light, check the pH stays between 5 and 6 and test that it leaves no residue. Daily use after washing is the usual routine.
Eye serum detail
Keep eye serums fragrance-free and test around the eyes. A roller tip adds a cooling, hygienic application.
Gifting
A nail serum and hand cream duo makes a simple gift.
Batch notes
Record the finished pH of every batch, since the window is narrow.
Labeling detail
Declare any carrier listed on the CoA on the label.
Storage
Keep the container closed in a cool place.
