Description
Detoxondria at a glance
Detoxondria is a marine active from France for oxygen care. Its INCI is Water, Sea Salt, Hydrolyzed Rhodophyceae Extract, Phenethyl Alcohol. Rhodophyceae is the scientific name for red algae, and the hydrolyzed extract carries the active molecule. The product is an opaque, cloudy, light gel with a pH of 7.6 to 9.3. It is water-soluble, suitable for vegan formulas and used at a very low dose: 0.75% in most products and up to 1.25% in intensive care.
What oxygen cosmetics means
Oxygen cosmetics is a care category built around one image: skin that breathes. City air, lack of sleep, stress and heavy makeup make the complexion look dull, grey and tired. Oxygen care products promise the opposite: a fresh, rosy, rested look and a feeling of lightness. The category has stayed popular for many years because the result is easy to see and the story is easy to understand. Detoxondria was developed for this category, with a red algae active and a mineral rich sea salt base.
Red algae in skin care
Red algae grow deeper in the sea than green or brown algae and have adapted to low light and strong water pressure. They are rich in polysaccharides, minerals and protective compounds. In skin care they are known for hydration, a smoother feel and protection against daily stress. In Detoxondria the algae extract is hydrolyzed, which breaks large molecules into smaller fragments that are easier to work into light textures.
What it does
The supplier describes three goals: skin breathing, detox and radiance. In practical terms, products with Detoxondria help the skin look fresher, brighter and less tired, support a more even, glowing complexion and help against the visible signs of aging. A detox message fits evening care that helps the skin recover after a long city day.
Dosing
The standard dose is 0.75%. For intensive products, such as a weekly mask or a concentrated night serum, the supplier allows up to 1.25%. Do not exceed this range; more is not better with this active.
How to formulate
pH
Detoxondria has a pH of 7.6 to 9.3. At 0.75% the effect on the final pH is small, but always check the pH after adding it and adjust to about 5.5 to 6.5 for face care.
Addition point
Add it to the water phase at cool-down, below 40 °C. Its light gel texture mixes easily into creams, serums and gels.
Partners
An oxygen care line works well with hydration and radiance actives. Niacinamide supports an even tone, and trehalose adds moisture and a fresh feel. More marine and radiance actives are listed in the cosmetic actives section.
Product ideas
Oxygen face creams, morning radiance serums, detox night creams, bubble or foam masks, city defense lotions, refreshing balms and vegan glow care are the main concepts.
Sample recipe: oxygen radiance cream, 100 g
Distilled water 74.25 g, glycerin 3.00 g, glyceryl stearate citrate 4.00 g, cetearyl alcohol 2.50 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 8.00 g, squalane 3.00 g, xanthan gum 0.30 g, Detoxondria 0.75 g, trehalose 2.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, preservative 1.00 g, citric acid solution 0.20 g. Heat water and oil phases to 75 °C, emulsify, cool below 40 °C, add Detoxondria, trehalose, panthenol and the preservative, and adjust to about pH 6.
Building an oxygen line
An oxygen care line can tell one simple story across several products. A morning serum gives a fresh, rested look before makeup. A day cream keeps the radiance message through the day. A weekly foam or bubble mask with up to 1.25% Detoxondria gives an intensive moment of care. A light night cream supports the detox idea while the skin rests. The low dose keeps the cost per product small, so the active can appear in the whole range.
Safety notes
Avoid contact with the eyes and do not exceed the recommended dose. Test the finished product for skin compatibility before launch.
Storage
Store in a cool, dark place in a tightly closed container. A certificate of analysis comes with every lot.
