Description

Deodorants, toners and teen skin care seem like separate categories, but they share a need for fresh, light products that feel comfortable on reactive-feeling skin. IO Deodorant and Tonic Active Liquid is an active listed across all of them, with a practical solubility profile: it dissolves in alcohols and glycols.

Product data

Soluble in alcohols and glycols. Applications from the card: deodorants, deodorant cosmetics, tonics, cleansers, products for sensitive skin, creams and teen beauty products. For this ingredient, the supplier CoA of each lot confirms the exact INCI, composition and recommended level.

Working with alcohol and glycol solubility

Premix the active in ethanol, propanediol, butylene glycol or another glycol, then add the premix to the water phase or the finished emulsion with good stirring. In alcohol-based sprays, it can go straight into the alcohol phase. Check clarity after addition.

Product formats

Deodorant spray

An alcohol-based or alcohol-light spray.

Roll-on

A gentle roll-on for daily use.

Toner

A fresh toner for oily or teen skin.

Gentle cleanser

A cleanser for sensitive skin.

Light cream

A daily cream for reactive-feeling skin.

Formulating guidance

Premix in a glycol and add during cool-down. In deodorants, pair it with D-Panthenol for comfort and a mild odor-control system. In teen care, combine it with niacinamide and in sensitive-skin products with bisabolol. More ingredients are listed under actives.

Claims

Use cosmetic wording such as fresh, comfortable, gentle on sensitive-feeling skin. Support numbers with tests on the finished product.

Who the products are for

Teenagers, people with sensitive underarms and anyone who wants light, fresh products.

Deodorant design

Deodorants differ from antiperspirants: they manage odor without blocking sweat. Freshly shaved underarms are sensitive, so test comfort right after shaving.

Teen care

Teen products should be simple, affordable and gentle, with clear instructions.

Testing

Run stability at room temperature and 40 °C, checking clarity, pH and odor.

Packaging

Spray bottles and roll-ons for deodorants, bottles for toners, tubes for creams.

Batch quality

Keep the CoA for each lot and store retained samples.

Range planning

A deodorant, a toner and a light cream form a fresh line for teens.

Labeling

Use the INCI from the CoA on the label rather than the trade name.

Preservation

Water-based roll-ons and creams need preservation. Confirm with a challenge test.

Routine guidance

Toner after cleansing, light cream morning and evening, deodorant after the shower.

Gifting

A deodorant and toner set suits back-to-school promotions.

Original recipe: gentle deodorant roll-on, 100 g

Purified water 78.80 g, ethanol 8.00 g, propanediol 5.00 g, IO Deodorant and Tonic Active Liquid 2.00 g as an example level per CoA, glycerin 2.00 g, hydroxyethylcellulose 1.00 g, panthenol 1.00 g, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil 0.80 g, fragrance 0.40 g, preservative 1.00 g. Disperse cellulose in glycerin, add water and hydrate. Premix the active in propanediol and fragrance with the solubilizer in ethanol, add both to the gel with panthenol and preservative and stir until smooth.

Cleansers and tonics

Gentle cleansers and alcohol-light tonics for sensitive or teen skin benefit from an active that dissolves in glycols. Premix it in propanediol, add it after the surfactants in cleansers and check clarity. Keep fragrance low in products for reactive-feeling skin.

Sensory design

Fresh products should dry fast and leave no residue on skin or clothes.

Storage

Keep the container closed in a cool place.
