Description
Cotton rich at a glance
Cotton rich is a liquid active derived from cotton. It dissolves in water and the supplier specification gives a pH of 4.0 to 5.0. The listed uses are broad: creams, emulsions, gels, liposome formulations, lotions, milks, sprays, shampoos and masks.
Cotton as a softness story
Few materials say softness as clearly as cotton. Consumers know it from towels, clothing and cotton pads, and they associate it with gentle, pure and comfortable care. Cotton-derived ingredients, from cotton seed oil to cotton proteins and extracts, are used to bring that story into cosmetics. In practice they support a silky skin feel and a soft touch on hair.
Formats
Body milks and lotions
Light milks and lotions with a cotton story suit everyday body care and sensitive-looking skin.
Face creams and gels
Creams and gels with a soft finish benefit from the silky feel.
Liposome formulas
The supplier specification lists liposome formulations, which makes the active suitable for advanced serums.
Hair care
Shampoos, masks and sprays use cotton actives for a soft, smooth touch.
How to use it
Add Cotton rich to the water phase below 40 °C and stir until uniform. Keep the final pH close to the supplier specification range of 4.0 to 5.0, which suits both skin and hair. In liposome formulas, add it after the vesicles have formed, unless the supplier advises otherwise.
Partners
Soft-touch concepts combine well with gentle humectants. Betaine adds a soft, non-tacky hydration, and silk amino acids liquid supports a silky hair feel. More concentrates are in the actives catalog.

Soft body milk recipe, 100 g
Distilled water 74.60 g, cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate 3.50 g, caprylic and capric triglyceride 6.00 g, cotton seed oil 3.00 g, glycerin 4.00 g, Cotton rich 4.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g, panthenol 1.00 g, tocopherol 0.30 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, fragrance 0.30 g, lactic acid solution 2.10 g. Heat the water and oil phases to 75 °C, emulsify, cool while stirring, then add Cotton rich, panthenol, tocopherol, preservative and fragrance below 40 °C and adjust the pH to about 5.
A note on the acidic pH
The supplier specification range of 4.0 to 5.0 is slightly more acidic than many skin products. It suits hair care very well and is fine for most skin care. Check compatibility with pH-sensitive thickeners such as carbomers, which lose viscosity at low pH, and choose acid-tolerant gums instead.
Dose guidance
Follow the dose in the technical sheet. In body milks a moderate share supports the softness story. In hair masks with longer contact time, the upper part of the range gives a more noticeable effect.
Range idea
A cotton-inspired body line with a body milk, a shower cream and a hair mist can share the same active and a clean, powdery cotton fragrance. Keep the look of the packaging soft and light to match the story.
Sensory evaluation
Softness is a sensory claim, so test it with a sensory panel. Compare the finished product with a version without the active and ask panelists to rate softness, smoothness and stickiness right after application and after ten minutes. For hair products, use tresses and rate softness and ease of combing when dry. These simple tests support the cotton softness story with real data.
Storage
Store tightly closed in a cool place, protected from light.
