Description
About extra virgin carrot seed oil
Extra virgin carrot seed oil is an oily liquid that mixes with oils and fats. It comes from the seeds of the carrot plant, Daucus carota. As an unrefined oil, it keeps its natural color and a light seed scent. It is a carrier oil, which is different from carrot seed essential oil; the essential oil is a concentrated, distilled fragrance material used in tiny amounts. Confirm the INCI and quality data on the supplier CoA.
Why carrot seed oil appeals
Carrot is one of the most familiar plants in the kitchen, and that familiarity helps. A carrot seed oil product feels natural and easy to understand, and the warm, earthy color suits a botanical brand. Unrefined oils also give a product a crafted, small-batch character.
Product formats
Facial oils
A facial oil blend with carrot seed oil and lighter oils gives a nourishing, glowing finish. Keep the share of the unrefined oil moderate so the color and scent stay pleasant.
Creams and serums
In an emulsion, add carrot seed oil to the oil phase. It suits night creams and creams for dry skin.
Balms
A balm for dry spots, cuticles or lips can include the oil with butters and waxes.
Body oils
A body oil for after the shower is a simple product with a short ingredient list, which suits natural brands.
Processing
Add the oil to the oil phase before heating or blend it at room temperature into oil serums. Avoid long heating of unrefined oils. Add tocopherol to protect the blend.
Partners
Squalane, jojoba oil and Oat Seed Oil give a lighter blend. Black Cumin Seed Oil adds another unrefined seed oil. More options are in our carrier oils catalog.
Color and scent
Unrefined oils vary from lot to lot in color and smell. Check each new lot against a retained sample, and adjust the fragrance if needed. In light-colored creams, the oil may add a warm tint.
Shelf life
Store the oil sealed, cool and dark. Add tocopherol to finished blends and run stability tests to set the shelf life. Smell the oil before each use; a sharp or paint-like odor means it has oxidized.
Claims
Use appearance and comfort wording: nourished, soft, glowing-looking skin. The carrot origin gives a friendly, natural story.
Line ideas
A facial oil and a night cream make a small, focused carrot line. A lip balm can be a low-price add-on. Orange-toned packaging connects the products to the ingredient.

Original recipe: glow facial oil, 100 g
Squalane 35.00 g, jojoba seed oil 30.00 g, carrot seed oil extra virgin 20.00 g, oat seed oil 14.00 g, tocopherol 1.00 g. Blend everything at room temperature and fill into dark glass bottles.
Sourcing and quality
Cold-pressed seed oils differ by origin and harvest. Ask the supplier for the country of origin and the pressing method, and keep that information with the CoA. Peroxide value and acid value on the CoA show how fresh the oil is; lower numbers are better for a long shelf life. Ordering smaller amounts more often keeps stock fresh, which matters more for unrefined oils than for refined ones. Rotate stock so the oldest lot is used first.
Blending ratios
In a facial oil, a fifth of the blend as carrot seed oil gives color and character without a strong scent. In body oils, a lower share keeps the cost down. Write down each ratio you test, together with notes on color, scent and absorption, so the final choice is easy to repeat.
Storage
Store closed in a cool, dark place. Keep the bottle tightly sealed after each use.
