Description

Body-contouring products are among the most popular items in spring and early summer, when customers prepare for lighter clothing. Firm-looking thighs, a smoother-looking abdomen and toned-looking arms are the goals. IO Body Contouring Active Liquid is a liquid active developed for this category, with a card that also extends it to the face, the chin line and the eyelids.

Product data

Liquid. Soluble in water, alcohols and propylene glycol; insoluble in oils. PH range 5.0 to 6.5. The exact INCI, active content and recommended level are listed on the supplier CoA for each lot, which is the reference for labeling and claims.

Applications from the card

Body-contouring creams and gels; serums for the body; lifting serums for the face and chin; products for the abdomen, thighs and arms; eyelid products with a de-puffing effect; SPA products and drainage-style massage formulas; professional cosmetology.

Body gels and creams

Cooling gels absorb quickly and suit daily use. Richer creams suit massage routines.

Face and chin

Lifting serums for the jawline and chin aim for a more defined-looking contour.

Eyelids

De-puffing gels for the eye area with a cooling applicator.

SPA massage

Drainage-style massage products in spa menus, often combined with wraps.

Using the solubility profile

Because this ingredient dissolves in water, alcohols and propylene glycol, it suits hydroalcoholic body gels that dry quickly and feel fresh. It does not dissolve in oils, so in emulsions it belongs to the water phase. Massage oils are not a suitable format unless a water phase is present.

Formulating guidance

Add the active during cool-down and keep the finished pH within 5.0 to 6.5. For an energizing concept, combine it with caffeine or Caffeine Encapsulated Complex. A cooling agent such as menthyl lactate enhances the feeling of freshness. More body and contouring actives are listed under actives.

Responsible claims

Contouring claims are closely watched in many markets. Use visual and sensory wording: smoother-looking, firmer-looking, more toned-looking skin, a lighter-feeling eye area. Back every claim with finished-product testing over a realistic period. Avoid weight-related or shape-change promises.

Routine advice

Body products work best with regular massage. Suggest applying twice a day with upward circular movements, focusing on the areas of concern. For the eye area, advise gentle patting with the ring finger.

Packaging

Tubes with massage heads or roller balls add value to body gels. Eye gels benefit from metal tips that give a cooling sensation.

Seasonal planning

Launch body contouring products in late winter so they are on shelf when customers start preparing for summer. A travel size helps new customers try the texture.

Choosing the base texture

The base decides how pleasant the routine feels. Hydroalcoholic gels dry in seconds and leave a fresh, non-sticky film, which suits morning use and warm weather. Light emulsions feel more nourishing and allow a longer massage, which suits evening routines and dry skin. Some brands offer both and suggest using the gel in the morning and the cream at night. Whichever base you choose, check that the active stays dissolved and clear in the water phase.
