Description
What Biomix Oil Complex is
Biomix Oil Complex is a ready-made blend of oils for cosmetic formulas. It is an oily liquid that dissolves in oils and is added to the oil phase. The supplier specification lists creams, serums, lotions, tonics, body-contouring programs, massage oils and hair cosmetics. A blend saves the formulator from balancing several individual oils and gives a consistent sensory profile from batch to batch. Confirm the exact list of oils and any added actives on the certificate of analysis.
The value of an oil blend
Each plant oil has its own fatty acid profile, absorption speed and stability. Light oils absorb fast but feel thin, heavier oils nourish but may feel greasy. A blend combines these qualities into one balanced material. For small brands it also simplifies purchasing and documentation, since one ingredient replaces several.
Uses
Creams and lotions
As part of the oil phase, the complex gives emulsions a nourishing, cushioned feel.
Massage and body oils
Massage oils are listed in the supplier specification. In an anhydrous body oil the complex can be the main component, with a light ester to adjust slip.
Body-contouring programs
Salon and home body-contouring routines often use oils for massage. The complex gives good glide and a soft finish.
Hair care
Pre-wash oils, hair masks and light leave-in oils use oil blends for smoothness and shine.
How to use it
Add the complex to the oil phase. In hot emulsions it can be heated with the other lipids, but keep heating time short to protect sensitive oils. In anhydrous products, add it cold. Always include an antioxidant such as tocopherol. Store finished products in opaque packaging.
Formula partners
Oils from the carrier oils catalog can extend the blend. Camellia oil adds a light, silky feel, and cosmetic jojoba oil improves stability and gives a dry finish.
Characteristics
Form: oily liquid. Solubility: oils. Phase: oil. Listed uses: creams, serums, lotions, tonics, body-contouring programs, massage oils, hair cosmetics. Composition and INCI: stated on the CoA supplied with each lot.
Body massage oil recipe, 100 g
Biomix Oil Complex 40.00 g, caprylic and capric triglyceride 30.00 g, cosmetic jojoba oil 15.00 g, camellia oil 12.50 g, tocopherol 0.50 g, essential oil blend 2.00 g. Mix the oils at room temperature, add tocopherol and the essential oil blend, stir until uniform and fill into opaque bottles.
Sensory testing
Compare the finished oil on the forearm against a reference product. Note spreading, absorption time, residual shine and stickiness after five minutes. Adjust the share of the light ester to make the oil faster or slower.
Stability and shelf life
Plant oils oxidize over time. Run an accelerated stability test at elevated temperature and check odor and peroxide value if possible. Choose packaging that limits air and light, and keep headspace in bulk containers low.
Where a blend saves time
Small brands often run many products with slightly different oil phases. Using one well-documented blend across a massage oil, a body cream and a hair mask reduces the number of raw materials to buy, test and store. It also makes the sensory signature of the range consistent. When a product needs a special touch, add a single extra oil on top of the blend instead of redesigning the whole oil phase.
Documentation
Ask for the full list of oils in the blend and their origin, an allergen statement and the results of any contaminant testing. If your market requires it, check the pesticide and heavy metal limits for each lot.
Storage
Store tightly closed in a cool place, away from light and air.
