Description
Bioecolia at a glance
Bioecolia cosmetic prebiotic is a white powder from France with the INCI Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide. It is water-soluble, has a pH of 3.8 to 7.5 and a characteristic odor, and it is added to the active phase at 0.5 to 5%.
The skin's microflora
The skin is home to billions of bacteria, yeasts and other microorganisms. Most of them are harmless or even useful: they help keep the skin surface balanced and make it harder for unwanted microbes to settle. When this balance is disturbed by harsh cleansing, stress or pollution, the skin can look oily, red or uneven, and the scalp can feel uncomfortable. Caring for the microflora has become one of the main trends in skin care.
How a prebiotic works
Bioecolia does the same on the skin. It is an oligosaccharide, a short chain of glucose units. The useful microorganisms of the skin can use it as food, while unwanted microbes cannot use it well. Over time this favors the good side of the microflora and helps it stay balanced.
What the supplier describes
The supplier describes Bioecolia as an active that strengthens and nourishes the skin and helps create a natural barrier against unfavorable external factors. It has a special focus on oily skin and oily scalp, where a balanced microflora helps the skin look clearer and feel more comfortable.
How to formulate
Dissolve the powder in the water phase or in the active phase. It dissolves easily and works across a broad pH range of 3.8 to 7.5. It is compatible with most cosmetic bases, including shampoos and cleansers. Choose a preservative system that is gentle on the skin's microflora. For a complete biotic line, combine it with a postbiotic such as Oxy Skin and with inulin, another prebiotic sugar. More microflora actives are listed in the cosmetic actives section.
Dosing
Cleansers, shampoos and makeup removers use 0.5 to 2%. Creams, toners and masks use 1 to 3%. Intensive balancing serums and scalp care use up to 5%.
Product ideas
The supplier lists shampoos, balms, masks, creams, toners, hair care, sprays, face care, makeup removers and children's care. Typical concepts are balancing face creams for oily skin, gentle cleansers, scalp care shampoos, prebiotic toners, mild baby washes and microflora friendly makeup removers.
Sample recipe: prebiotic balancing toner, 100 g
Distilled water 89.10 g, Bioecolia 2.00 g, glycerin 3.00 g, propanediol 3.00 g, niacinamide 2.00 g, panthenol 0.50 g, preservative 0.30 g, citric acid solution 0.10 g. Dissolve Bioecolia and niacinamide in the water, add glycerin, propanediol and panthenol, then the preservative, and adjust to about pH 5.5.
Cleansing without stripping
Strong cleansers remove not only dirt and oil but also part of the microflora. Adding a prebiotic to a cleanser or shampoo helps the useful microbes recover more quickly after washing. This makes Bioecolia a good partner for daily face washes, shampoos for oily scalp and gentle children's washes.
Children's care
The supplier lists children's care among the uses. A mild baby wash or cream with Bioecolia supports a balanced skin surface in a gentle, simple formula.
Scalp care
An oily scalp often goes hand in hand with an unbalanced microflora. A shampoo with 1 to 2% Bioecolia and a leave-on scalp tonic with 2 to 3% give a two step routine for a fresher, more comfortable scalp that stays clean looking for longer.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place protected from light. A certificate of analysis comes with every lot.
