Description
Soybeans are among the richest plant sources of protein, and their hydrolysates have been used in hair and skin care for many years. Soy Protein Peptide turns that protein into short, water-soluble fragments that form a light, conditioning film. It is a practical, plant-based option for brands that want a protein ingredient without animal origin.
Material at a glance
We supply Soy Protein Peptide as a beige dry material sold by weight. It dissolves in water. the exact INCI, protein content and suggested level are confirmed on the CoA for each lot. Hydrolyzed Soy Protein is a common INCI for this type of material, but always follow the document for your lot.
Why protein hydrolysates help hair
Hair is made mostly of protein. When it is damaged by heat, coloring or weathering, its surface becomes rough and porous. Protein hydrolysates adsorb onto the fiber and fill in rough areas, which makes hair feel smoother, look shinier and comb more easily. Soy proteins are also valued for adding a sense of body to fine hair.
Product formats
Hair products
Shampoos, conditioners, masks and leave-in sprays. In styling products a protein hydrolysate can support hold and a fuller look. Combine soy peptide with a cationic polymer such as quaternized wheat proteins when you want stronger conditioning on damaged lengths.
Skin products
The supplier specification lists creams, face and body masks and tonics. In skin care the light protein film gives a smooth, soft touch and helps creams feel less greasy. In peel-off and cream masks it supports a pleasant after-feel.
Handmade and professional use
The supplier specification names both handmade cosmetics and professional cosmetics. The ingredient dissolves at room temperature, which suits cold-process products, and its plant origin is easy to explain to customers.
Formulating guidance
Dissolve the material in water and add it to the water phase during cool-down. Expect a light beige tint and a mild characteristic odor, and test fragrance coverage. Preserve water-based products well, since proteins can support microbial growth. Keep the pH in a skin and hair-friendly range. Other plant protein hydrolysates are listed in hydrolyzed proteins, including Natural Pea Peptide, a useful alternative for allergen-conscious concepts.
Allergen awareness
Soy is a known food allergen in many markets. Cosmetic labeling rules differ by region, so check local requirements and state the plant source clearly on the product. Brands targeting allergy-conscious audiences may prefer to offer an alternative protein.
This listing is sold as a cosmetic raw material; do not repurpose it for food use without a food-grade specification and the relevant documentation.
Testing the result on hair
Protein claims are easy to demonstrate with simple tests. Apply the finished spray or conditioner to bleached hair swatches and compare them with untouched swatches for combing force, shine and the feel of the ends. A small salon panel with half-head applications adds credibility. Record observations with photos in consistent lighting. Avoid overloading fine hair with protein, which can make it feel stiff; adjust the level until hair feels soft and full rather than crisp.
