Description
Renovage as Sederma supplies it
Renovage is the Sederma trade name for teprenone, also called geranylgeranylacetone, delivered at about 1% in a caprylic/capric triglyceride carrier. This listing is the branded raw material itself, in the composition the manufacturer documents, and each lot ships with its certificate of analysis. We place it in our Ready Serums section because brands mostly reach for it when they build serums and face oils for mature-looking skin, but please read it for what it is: a concentrate that goes into a formula at 3%, not a serum you apply straight from the bottle.
Why brands ask for the Renovage name
When a launch brief, a retailer questionnaire or a claim dossier names Renovage, the purchasing team has to show that the material came from Sederma. That is the job of the supplier specification. If your label only needs the INCI wording and you are free to choose the source, our own-name teprenone liquid carries the same INCI at a lower price. Picking the grade early saves a second round of stability work later.
Where teprenone fits in a mature-skin line
Formulators use teprenone in leave-on products for skin that looks tired, rough or less even, typically night oils, rich creams, eye balms and water-free serums. Because the molecule is lipid-soluble, the carrier oil does the work of spreading it, and the finished texture stays light. Keep marketing language cosmetic and speak about how skin looks and feels rather than quoting supplier study figures as promises.
Working with the oil phase
Weigh Renovage into the oil phase or into a warm emulsion that has dropped below 60 °C, then stir until even. In an anhydrous serum you can simply blend it into the oils at room temperature. The supplier use level is 3.0% of the finished product. It does not dissolve in water, so a clear water gel is the wrong base; choose an emulsion, a gel-cream or an oil serum. Partners such as squalane oil and a little mixed tocopherols protect and carry it well.
Specification and storage
The liquid is clear and pale yellow with the mild odor of the triglyceride. Store it closed, cool and away from light, and use it within the shelf life on the certificate, which also lists the lot number your batch record will reference.
