Description
Olive Active Omega at a glance
Olive Active Omega is an olive based active oil from Spain, also known as Oliveactive Omega. Its INCI is Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Extract. It is a clear, pale yellow, oil-soluble liquid. It combines olive oil with extracts of the olive leaf and fruit, which brings a complex of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids together with hydroxytyrosol, maslinic acid and oleanolic acid. It is used at 1 to 2% and, when needed, up to 100%.
The whole olive in one oil
Olive oil has been used on skin and hair around the Mediterranean for thousands of years. Most of its well known protective compounds, however, sit in the leaves and in the fruit flesh, not only in the oil. Olive Active Omega brings these parts together. The oil supplies the omega fatty acids, while the leaf and fruit extracts add hydroxytyrosol, one of the strongest natural antioxidants of the olive, and the triterpenes maslinic and oleanolic acid.
What it does
The supplier lists a broad profile. It supports the structure and function of skin cells, raises the lipid content of the skin and helps restore its barrier. It protects against harmful oxidants and supports healthy cell membranes. It gives proper hydration, elasticity and softness and helps the skin feel less sensitive.
A natural antioxidant for oils
Many formulas use the synthetic antioxidant BHT to protect their oils from going rancid. The supplier positions Olive Active Omega as a natural replacement. At 1 to 2% in the oil phase, its hydroxytyrosol helps protect sensitive plant oils, which suits natural and clean label brands.
How to formulate
Add Olive Active Omega to the oil phase. It can be heated with the oils in a hot process emulsion, or simply mixed into an oil blend at room temperature. At 1 to 2% it acts as an active and antioxidant. At higher levels, up to 100%, it becomes the base of a face oil, body oil or lip oil. It combines well with squalane for a light feel and with vitamin E for extra antioxidant protection. More botanical actives are in the botanical extracts section.

Makeup and day creams
The supplier also lists protective day creams and makeup. In foundations and tinted creams, the oil adds a soft, comfortable feel and protects the oil phase, while the omega fatty acids support skin comfort under makeup.
Hair care
In hair oils and masks the olive complex adds softness and shine. A blend of 20 to 40% Olive Active Omega with lighter oils gives a nourishing pre wash care for dry hair ends.
Sensitive skin
The supplier lists sensitive skin care, and the olive complex helps the skin feel less sensitive. A simple comfort cream with 2% Olive Active Omega, a few gentle emollients and no fragrance is a good base for reactive skin lines. Olive oil is one of the most familiar and trusted oils For formulators building consumer-facing cosmetics, which supports the message.
