Description
Mineral-rich waters, sea salts and thermal springs have inspired skincare for a long time. Modern formulas often use chelated minerals instead of raw salts, because binding minerals to organic carriers keeps them soluble and easier to combine with other ingredients. IO Mineral Complex Liquid is a liquid mineral complex in this style, designed for skin, hair, body and spa products.
Reading the name
Both points, as well as the exact INCI and mineral content, should be confirmed on the supplier CoA for each lot. The product card lists water solubility and a pH range of 4.0 to 7.0.
Applications listed on the card
Skincare: mineral serums, creams and emulsions, skin vitality and hydration products. Hair care: scalp care products, hair strengthening products and mineral serums. Body care: mineral lotions and wellness body care. SPA: mineral beauty and relaxation programs.
Mineral serum
A light serum with a mineral story, combining the complex with humectants and a hyaluronic acid.
Creams for tired-looking skin
Day creams positioned for vitality and a fresh, rested look.
Hair strengthening
Scalp serums and conditioners with minerals for stronger-looking hair.
SPA and wellness
Body lotions and massage creams for spa menus built around minerals and relaxation.
Formulating guidance
Add the complex during cool-down into the water phase. Keep the finished pH within 4.0 to 7.0. Minerals can affect the viscosity of some thickeners, especially carbomers and some natural gums, so add the complex before final viscosity adjustment and check stability. If the grade is preservative-free, the finished product still needs its own preservation. Some minerals can interact with copper peptides, ascorbic acid and other sensitive actives, so check compatibility. For a related ingredient, see IO Antioxidant Active Liquid. Pair with betaine for a hydration-led mineral serum. More concentrates for vitality and spa concepts are under actives.
Claims
Describe results in sensory and visual terms: a fresh, rested-looking complexion, hydrated skin, stronger-looking hair. Avoid suggesting that the minerals have a nutritional effect on the body.
Story and presentation
Minerals lend themselves to clean, elemental branding: stone textures, water imagery and short, clear copy. Explain that the minerals are chelated for good compatibility and stability, which helps customers understand why the format matters.
Batch quality
Record the lot number, appearance and pH of each delivery and keep a retained sample. Mineral complexes can vary slightly in color; note any change.
Range planning
A mineral range can include a face serum, a body lotion and a scalp serum with the same complex. A spa version with a richer massage cream extends the concept for professional customers.
Testing for viscosity drift
Prepare small batches with and without the complex and compare viscosity after one day, one week and four weeks at room temperature and 40 °C. If viscosity drops, switch to a salt-tolerant thickener such as hydroxyethylcellulose or a suitable associative polymer.
Original recipe: mineral vitality serum, 100 g
Purified water 85.30 g, glycerin 4.00 g, betaine 2.00 g, hydroxyethylcellulose 1.00 g, IO Mineral Complex Liquid 3.00 g as an example level per CoA, sodium hyaluronate 0.20 g, panthenol 1.00 g, allantoin 0.10 g, preservative 1.00 g, fragrance 0.10 g, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil 0.30 g, citric acid solution 2.00 g. Disperse cellulose and hyaluronate in glycerin, add water and stir until clear. Add betaine, panthenol, allantoin and the complex below 40 °C. Premix fragrance with solubilizer, add with preservative and adjust pH to about 5.5.
Storage
Keep tightly closed in a cool, dark place. Reseal right after use, especially if the grade is preservative-free.
