Description
Melting sensation triglycerides at a glance
Melting sensation triglycerides is a natural texturizer and emollient from France. Its INCI is C10-18 Triglycerides. It comes as clear to milky white granules that dissolve in oils, including mineral oil, but not in water, and only slightly in ethanol. It is used at 2 to 20% of the finished product. As the name suggests, its key feature is texture: creams and balms made with it melt gently when they touch the skin.
What C10-18 triglycerides are
Triglycerides are the main building blocks of natural fats and oils: three fatty acids linked to glycerin. The chain length of the fatty acids decides whether a fat is liquid or solid. C10-18 triglycerides combine medium and longer chains in a balanced mix, which gives a fat that is solid at room temperature but softens and melts close to skin temperature. This is what creates the melting sensation.
What it does
The supplier describes a natural, stable texturizing agent and emollient with an improved sensory profile. It allows dense, stable emulsions that melt gently on the skin. It gives the skin a cared for, smooth, elastic and silky look. On the skin and lips it feels melting and silky, spreads easily and absorbs quickly, without a heavy feel. Body creams and lotions made with it leave no greasy or sticky feeling.
How to formulate
In emulsions
Add the granules to the oil phase and melt them with the other oils and waxes. At 2 to 5% they give body and a melting finish to lotions and creams. At 5 to 10% they build rich, dense creams that still spread easily.
In anhydrous products
In balms, anhydrous serums and lipsticks, use 10 to 20%. The granules melt into the oils and build structure without the drag of hard waxes.
Partners
For a light face cream, combine it with squalane. For a lip balm, add an olive oil complex for nourishment. More texture ingredients are listed in the cosmetic actives section.
Product ideas
The supplier lists body creams and lotions without greasy or sticky feel, face creams and anhydrous serums for all skin types, lip and eye area products and makeup such as lipsticks, pencils and lip glosses. Typical concepts are melting body butters, whipped creams, cleansing balms, lip balms and eye creams.
Sample recipe: melting body butter, 100 g
Distilled water 63.00 g, glycerin 4.00 g, glyceryl stearate citrate 4.00 g, cetearyl alcohol 2.00 g, Melting sensation triglycerides 10.00 g, shea butter 8.00 g, caprylic/capric triglyceride 6.00 g, xanthan gum 0.30 g, panthenol 1.00 g, preservative 1.00 g, fragrance 0.50 g, citric acid solution 0.20 g. Heat water and oil phases to 75 °C, emulsify and cool with slow stirring, add panthenol, the preservative and fragrance below 40 °C, and adjust to about pH 5.5.
Makeup
In lipsticks and pencils, the triglycerides help the stick glide smoothly and deposit color evenly. In lip glosses they add a cushioned, non sticky feel.
Eye area
The eye area needs light, non greasy textures. A small amount of melting triglycerides in an eye cream adds richness that absorbs quickly.
Stability
The supplier calls it a stable texturizer. Unlike many plant butters, the defined triglyceride mix does not easily develop grainy crystals over time, which helps creams and balms keep a smooth surface. Still, cool anhydrous products slowly after pouring and check them after a month at room temperature and at 40 °C.
Claims
Speak of a melting, silky texture, skin that looks smooth and cared for and a non greasy finish.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place in a tightly closed container. A certificate of analysis comes with every lot.
