Description
FeruliShield Coconut in short
FeruliShield Coconut is an oil-soluble ingredient. At room temperature it is semi-solid to liquid and pale yellow. It is not water-soluble. The name combines ferulic acid, a well-known plant antioxidant, with coconut, which suggests coconut-derived fatty chains that make the antioxidant oil-compatible. The supplier specification lists, fluids and sprays, day creams with protection from external factors and antioxidant products. Confirm full INCI and dose on the certificate of analysis.
Why ferulic acid in after-sun care
Ferulic acid occurs in rice bran, oats, coffee and many other plants. It is a strong antioxidant that absorbs part of the UV spectrum and helps stabilize other antioxidants. In after-sun care, ferulic derivatives support the protective concept by helping the skin and the formula cope with oxidative stress. Making it oil-soluble solves a common problem: pure ferulic acid is hard to dissolve in the oil phase where sun filters are.
Formats
The main use in the supplier specification.
Protective day creams
Day creams with an anti-pollution or environmental-protection message benefit from an antioxidant in the oil phase.
Antioxidant serums and oils
Oil serums and facial oils with an antioxidant story are a natural fit.
How to use it
Warm the material gently until it is homogeneous, then add it to the oil phase. In emulsions it can be heated with the other lipids. Protect the finished product from light.
Partners
Antioxidant concepts work best with complementary ingredients. Alpha-tocopherol acetate adds vitamin E, and T-Resveratrol Fluid brings a polyphenol to the water side. More protective concentrates are listed in the actives catalog.
