Description
Donkey Milk Powder at a glance
Donkey Milk Powder is a dry powder. Donkey milk has a famous place in beauty history, often linked to stories of milk baths in the ancient world. It contains milk sugars, proteins, fats and minerals. In cosmetics, the powder gives products a soft, nourishing story and a gentle milky character. Check the INCI name, recommended level and microbial quality on the supplier data sheet and CoA.
Why milk in skincare
Milk sugars help bind moisture, and milk proteins can leave a soft, smooth film on the skin. Milk ingredients appear in creams, masks and bath products with a comforting, nurturing story. Donkey milk adds a premium, heritage angle.

Processing
Dissolve the powder in part of the water phase at room temperature and add it at cool-down, since heat may change milk proteins. Mix gently to avoid foam.
Good partners
Oat milk adds another plant milk story. Royal jelly extract and honey suit the nourishing theme, and Avocado oil gives richness. Browse more in the actives catalog.
Testing
Run challenge testing for preservation. Check color, odor and viscosity over time, since milk ingredients can darken.
Claims
Skin feels soft, smooth and nourished; comforting milky texture.
Characteristics
Form: powder. Appearance: dry powder. Source: donkey milk. INCI and level: supplier data sheet and CoA.
Original recipe: nourishing milk cream, 100 g
Distilled water 66.20 g, glycerin 4.00 g, donkey milk powder 2.00 g, avocado oil 8.00 g, shea butter 5.00 g, glyceryl stearate citrate 4.50 g, cetearyl alcohol 2.50 g, squalane 4.00 g, xanthan gum 0.30 g, panthenol 1.00 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, tocopherol 0.50 g, fragrance 1.00 g. Emulsify the heated phases, cool below 40 °C, add donkey milk powder dissolved in part of the water, then the remaining ingredients.
Color and odor
Milk powders can bring a faint natural color and scent. A light fragrance with vanilla, almond or honey notes suits the theme. Check over time that the product does not darken.
Labeling
Products with animal-derived ingredients should say so clearly, as some users choose vegan products. Note donkey milk in the ingredient story.
Range ideas
A milk cream, a creamy mask and a bath milk can share donkey milk powder for a luxurious heritage line.
Lot records
Keep each CoA with the batch file and note the lot used.
Sourcing and quality
Milk powders vary with the farm, the drying method and storage. Ask the supplier how the milk was collected and dried, and request microbial data for each lot. Spray-dried and freeze-dried powders behave a little differently: freeze-dried grades often dissolve more easily and keep a fresher scent. Record which type you use, since changing it can affect color and texture.
Sensitive skin
Milk ingredients are popular in products for dry and sensitive skin. Keep the formula gentle, with mild emulsifiers and a light or no fragrance, and run patch tests on volunteers with sensitive skin before launch.
Fragrance pairing
Soft gourmand and powdery notes match a milk story best. Keep the fragrance level low so the product stays gentle, and test the scent in the finished cream after a week, since milk components can soften how a fragrance smells.
Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.
Storage
Store closed in a cool, dry place. Close the container after use.
