What Coenzyme Q10 Liquid is
Coenzyme Q10 Liquid is an oil-soluble liquid form of coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone), sold as a raw material for topical cosmetic products. A liquid saves the melting step needed with the crystalline powder, so it is convenient for small batches and cold-process oil products. The exact composition, carrier oil and Q10 content are stated on the CoA for each lot.
It is listed with our cosmetic actives, and in oil serums it works well next to vitamin E such as alpha tocopherol acetate.
Where it is used
Typical formats are face creams and lotions, oil serums, face oils, anhydrous balms and the oil phase of emulsions. In cosmetics Q10 is known as an antioxidant ingredient, and products built around it are usually described as giving the skin a fresher, smoother and more radiant look. It also gives a light yellow to orange tint.
How to work with it
Add the liquid to the oil phase. In emulsions, it can go into the oil phase before emulsifying or into the cooled emulsion with good mixing; protect it from prolonged heat and air. In anhydrous oils and balms, stir it in at the end. Use the level given on the CoA for your lot.
Formulation tips
