Description

Citrolumine 8 at a glance

Citrolumine 8 is a citrus radiance complex developed in Switzerland. Its INCI is Glycerin, Aqua, Lecithin, Citrus Paradisi Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Amara Fruit Extract, Sodium Ascorbate, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil. In plain words, it brings together grapefruit and bitter orange fruit extracts, vitamin C as sodium ascorbate and vitamin E as tocopherol, in a glycerin and lecithin base with a little sunflower oil. It is a yellowish to amber, water-soluble liquid with a broad pH range of 4.0 to 8.0. The supplier also calls it a citrus brightening complex, a skin radiance complex and a glow enhancing active.

A citrus story for glow

Citrus fruits are one of the most recognized symbols of freshness and vitamin C in beauty. Citrolumine 8 turns this story into a functional active. The fruit extracts supply natural citrus compounds, and the added vitamin C and E bring antioxidant power. Together they support a brighter, fresher and more even looking complexion. The supplier positions it for tone evening and radiance formulas, glow programs and refreshing complexes.

Why lecithin matters

Lecithin is a natural phospholipid that can hold water-soluble and oil-soluble parts together. In this complex it keeps vitamin E and sunflower oil evenly dispersed in a water-soluble liquid. This means a formulator can add both antioxidant types in one step, to the water phase, without a separate oil phase.

Dosing by product

Facial serums use 1 to 5%. Creams and emulsions use 1 to 3%. Gels and fluids use 1 to 5%. Professional concentrates for salon brightening programs use up to 5%. Body lotions and creams use 1 to 5%.

How to formulate

Add Citrolumine 8 to the water phase at cool-down, below 40 °C, because vitamin C and the fruit extracts prefer gentle handling. The broad pH range of 4.0 to 8.0 gives freedom, but for a brightening serum a pH of about 5 to 6 suits most bases. For a stronger tone message, combine it with niacinamide and aminopropyl ascorbyl phosphate, a stable vitamin C derivative. More radiance actives are listed in the cosmetic actives section.

Product ideas

Glow serums, vitamin C style essences, tone evening day creams, radiance toners, brightening body lotions, morning fluids and salon brightening concentrates for professional programs are the main uses.

Sample recipe: citrus glow essence, 100 g

Distilled water 86.30 g, Citrolumine 8 4.00 g, glycerin 3.00 g, propanediol 3.00 g, niacinamide 2.00 g, xanthan gum 0.20 g, panthenol 0.50 g, preservative 1.00 g. Disperse xanthan gum in glycerin, add the water and stir until smooth, dissolve niacinamide, add propanediol and panthenol, add Citrolumine 8 and the preservative at the end, and adjust to about pH 5.5.

Fragrance and labeling

The citrus extracts bring a fresh story, and a light citrus fragrance fits it well. On the label, the grapefruit, bitter orange and vitamin names make a clear, consumer friendly list.

Professional programs

The supplier lists professional cosmetology among the main uses: concentrates for brightening programs, device based care and intensive salon care. In a salon program, a concentrate with up to 5% Citrolumine 8 can be applied under a mask or used with ultrasound or other devices, while a home care serum at a lower dose continues the routine between visits. SPA and wellness programs can use the citrus story in body wraps and radiance rituals.

Working with other actives

The complex combines well with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and with other brighteners. Avoid mixing it with strong oxidizers. If you combine it with acids in a peel style serum, test the color and odor over time, because vitamin C can darken in very acidic bases.

Claims

Speak of a brighter, more radiant, fresher looking complexion, a more even looking tone and antioxidant protection.

Storage

Store in a dry, cool room in a tightly closed container, protected from light. A certificate of analysis comes with every lot.
