Description

This ingredient at a glance

The recommended level is 0.1 to 1%, with 1% typical. The card lists a wide range of face products: facial skin care, age-defying cosmetics, moisturizers, BB-perfecting products, care for oily and teenage skin, products for skin with imperfections and visible redness, and cleansers.

A versatile face active

Few actives are listed for both mature skin and teenage skin. This broad positioning suggests a general skin-conditioning or smoothing role. Read the supplier data sheet to learn which effect it is known for and plan the product story around that, rather than trying to claim everything at once.

Product formats

Age-defying moisturizers

Creams and serums for a smoother look.

BB-perfecting products

Tinted creams that even out the look of skin.

Oily and teenage skin care

Light gels and fluids with a matte finish.

Cleansers

Gentle gel cleansers.

Processing

Add the concentrate to the water phase at cool-down, below about 40 °C, and avoid prolonged heat. In cleansers, add it after the surfactants are mixed. Check the final pH against the supplier's recommendation.

Good partners

Niacinamide suits both oily-skin and age-defying products. Bisabolol calms the look of redness, and Hyaluronic filling spheres add a smoothing story. Browse more in the actives catalog.

Testing

Run stability tests in each format. Ask the supplier for efficacy data that matches the product type you choose.

Claims

Skin looks smoother and more even; balanced, comfortable feel. Base specific claims on supplier data.

Characteristics

Form: brown water-soluble liquid. INCI: glycerin, water, Khaya senegalensis bark extract, maltodextrin. Use level: 0.1 to 1%. Listed uses: facial care, age-defying cosmetics, moisturizers, BB-perfecting products, oily and teenage skin care, cleansers.

Original recipe: balancing gel fluid for oily skin, 100 g

Distilled water 86.90 g, glycerin 3.00 g, Khaya Senegalensis Bark Extract Liquid 1.00 g, niacinamide 3.00 g, carbomer 0.40 g, caprylic capric triglyceride 2.00 g, polysorbate 20 1.00 g, bisabolol 0.20 g, panthenol 1.00 g, phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin 1.00 g, sodium hydroxide solution 0.50 g. Disperse the carbomer, add glycerin, niacinamide and panthenol, mix the oil with bisabolol and polysorbate and add it, neutralize, then add Khaya Senegalensis Bark Extract Liquid and the preservative. Adjust Khaya Senegalensis Bark Extract Liquid level to the CoA.

Teenage skin

Products for younger skin should be simple, light and gentle. Avoid heavy fragrance, keep the texture fresh and give clear, short directions. Present the product as everyday care for a balanced look.

BB products

In tinted creams, add the concentrate to the water phase after the pigments are dispersed. Check that it does not change the shade over time.

Directions for users

Suggest applying the gel fluid morning and evening after cleansing.

Sensory check

Ask testers to rate shine, absorption and comfort after ten minutes and after two hours.

Record keeping

Note the concentrate lot, the format and the final pH of each batch.

Packaging

Pumps and tubes keep light gels clean and easy to dose.

Lot records

Keep each CoA with the batch file and note the lot used.

Cleanser tip

In rinse-off cleansers, contact time is short, so pair the active with leave-on products in the same range.

Record the lot number in your batch log so every production run can be traced back to its certificate of analysis. Retain a small sample of each lot for at least the shelf life of the finished product, since it makes later quality questions much easier to answer.

Storage

Store closed as the CoA directs. Close the container after use.
